DESCRIPTION:The Kids Service begins each Sunday morning from 10:30-10:50 am. Please arrive a few minutes early to get settled. \nFollowing the service\, the children go downstairs with their teacher to participate in the classroom program. \nEveryone is welcome. We hope to see you each week! \nApril’s theme – Sakyamuni Buddha – Hanamatsuri \nHANAMATSURI or “Flower Festival”\, is held to honour the birth of Siddartha Gautama (Sakyamuni) Buddha in Lumbini Garden. A flower shrine known as a hanamido\, is set up at the front of the main altar as a symbol of Lumbini Garden. In the hanamido\, stands a statue of the infant Buddha\, with his right hand pointing toward the heavens and his left hand towards the earth. People pour sweet tea over the Buddha statue. The pouring of tea represents the gentle rain that was said to have fallen in Lumbini Garden when Siddhartha was born. This re-enactment of the Buddha’s birth signifies the happiness that filled the world at this event.

DESCRIPTION:The Board of Directors of Toronto Buddhist Church wishes to notify all members that the Annual Meeting of Members will be held in person at the time and date indicated above\, and cordially invites all members to attend in person and vote on the matters raised at the Meeting. In addition to the regular business to be conducted at the meeting\, special business will b discussed and voted on. The text of all special business to be conducted at the Meeting is attached to this notice as Schedule A. \nPlease note that while attendance at the Meeting is open to all friends of the Temple\, only Members* of the Temple will be entitled to speak and vote on any matters coming before the Meeting. We ask all Members who are planning to attend\, to please register with the office by email at tbc@tbc.on.ca or by phone (416)534-4302. A light lunch will be served after the morning service and before the Meeting. \nIf you are unable to attend the Meeting\, you may nominate a Proxy to vote at the Meeting on your behalf by completing the form of Proxy attached to this notice as Schedule B. You may nominate Darlene Rieger or another member of the Temple of your choice as your Proxy. To be valid\, properly completed Proxies may be mailed or sent electronically to the Temple and must be received by the Temple on or before 4:00 pm on Wednesday April 9\, 2025. \nFor Full AGM details\, please refer to the March edition of the Guiding Light\, page 17.
