You are invited to attend a Special Workshop held at our temple on Saturday, October 5, 2019 from 1-5pm. This Workshop will be conducted by Rev. Nobuya Mitsuda, a Liturgy Specialist from Nishi Hongwanji (Our mother temple). He is well known and respected within the ministerial community and has offered to provide public workshop on chanting and rituals.
Some topics to be covered include how to chant Shoshinge and how to use the Obutsudan. He will also be teaching “Ojoraisan”, the Liturgy for Birth. Shan-Tao, One of Seven Jodo Shinshu Patriarchs, collected passages from various Sutras and teachings. He arranged the chants into six sections and recited the sections six times a day. He hoped this form of daily devotion would encourage people to aspire for rebirth in the Pure Land. Today, it is performed on special occasions. Toronto Buddhist Church hopes you will be able to participate in Rev. Mitsuda’s Workshop.
