With summer finally here, it’s time to come together as a community and give our beloved temple the care it deserves. We are excited to announce our Summer Temple Clean-Up day, and we need your helping hands to make it a success!
Event Details:
- Date: Saturday, August 17th, 2024
- Time: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- Location: Toronto Buddhist Church, 1011 Sheppard Avenue West
Can’t make it on Saturday? No worries! If you are unable to join us on the 17th, we welcome volunteers to come by during the week leading up to the event. Your contribution, no matter how big or small, will make a significant difference.
Why Cleaning Matters: The World Economic Forum highlighted the benefits of cleaning, not only as a physical activity but also as a way to declutter the mind. Cleaning can teach valuable lessons in core Buddhist principles, such as mindfulness and simplicity. The act of cleaning is a meditative practice that offers the chance to meditate and be present, in the midst of daily tasks.
Tasks to be Completed:
🧹 Sanctuary Cleaning: Dusting, vacuuming, and polishing
🌿 Garden Maintenance: Weeding, trimming bushes, and planting flowers
🍴 Kitchen Scrub Down: Cleaning appliances, countertops, and cabinets
📚 Classroom Tidying: Organizing supplies, wiping down surfaces, and decluttering
🔧 General Repairs: Fixing small items, touching up paint, and checking for maintenance needs
