Keirokai is May 17th. Order your bento boxes by the May 3rd deadline!

Keirokai is a special celebration held to express our deepest gratitude and respect for the elders in our community. At the Toronto Buddhist Church, we are proud to honour members who are reaching milestone ages—77 (Kiju), 88 (Beiju), 99 (Hakuju), 100 (Kakuju), and beyond.

We invite everyone to join us on Sunday, May 17, for a heartfelt Keirokai Service at 11:00 AM, both in person and via Zoom. Following the service, we’ll gather for a bento box lunch and enjoy some lively entertainment in celebration of our honourees.

🍱 Bento Lunch Details: Please note, orders are required for ALL bentos – complimentary and paid to ensure we make the right amount. The order form can be found HERE.

  • Complimentary lunch for all registered members aged 77 and over
  • $20 per bento for members and guests under 77 – pre-orders only.
  • Deadline to order: Sunday, May 3

🎉 How to Participate: If you or a loved one will be 77 years or older by this year’s Keirokai, please submit your information and a photo (for our honouree slideshow) by May 11th.

📧 Download the Keirokai Honoureee form here and send your submissions (with subject line “Keirokai”) to: darlene.rieger@tbc.on.ca. You can also call (416-534-4302) or mail your information to the temple office.

Let’s come together to celebrate the wisdom, experiences, and contributions of our elders. This is a cherished tradition at TBC, and we look forward to sharing this meaningful day with all of you.
