TBC Pancake Lunch & 30th Anniversary of Japanese Canadian Redress

Please join us on Sunday December 2nd, 2018 after service for our annual TBC Sangha Pancake Lunch followed by a special event commemorating the 30th Anniversary of the Japanese Canadian Redress.

Judge Maryka Omatsu (retired) was appointed to the Ontario Court of Justice in 1993 – the first woman of East Asian heritage to be so honoured in the history of the Canadian Judiciary. In addition to being a celebrated author (Bittersweet Passages), she was a key member of the negotiating team for the National Association of Japanese Canadians that fought for, and ultimately won, an official apology and redress for the wartime wrongs visited upon the community during and after World War Two.

Please join us for a Q&A session following the screening of her short film Swimming Upstream.

A delicious Pancake lunch is just $7.00, no charge for Kids Sangha members.

Available items include:
– regular pancakes
– buckwheat pancakes (gluten free & vegan)

Tickets will be sold in the lobby prior to the 11:00 am service as well as in the social hall after the service.
